![]() ![]() The same applies for its remote controller, which features a built-in screen. ![]() The SwellPro Spry+ (£979) is specifically designed to be buoyant and also features a corrosion resistant construction. You’d assume that any kind of water would be the death of a drone, especially sea water, but not this one. This Spry+ also benefits from being one of the most unique consumer camera drones on the market. Sensor: 12MP 1/2.3in CMOS | Stabilisation: EIS | Video: 4K/30p | Sensors: GPS-only | Battery: 3,600mAh | Display: Built-into remote | Max speed: 64.8kph | Max flight time: 17min | Real world distance: 700m | Size folded: N/A | Size unfolded: 233.5mm (L) x 249mm (W) x 90mm (H) | Weight: 500g | Memory: 1 x microSDHC/SDXCĪlthough it’s not one of the latest drone releases, SwellPro has updated its Spry model since its initial release to squeeze as much out of the concept as possible. However it’s around 7mm smaller in height when folded and with a total weight of 595g, it’s compact and portable enough to join you on any trip. This comprehensive list of upgrades combine to add 25g to the weight of the Mavic Air 2S over the Mavic Air 2. The higher resolution video capability of the Mavic Air 2S also means that this drone can digitally zoom up to 4x when shooting 4K/30p video and up to 6x when shooting 2.7K/30p video. These features make it possible to shoot professional quality footage with greater flexibility for colour grading in post. There’s a slight crop on 4K/60p video, but it offers a higher bitrate of 150Mbps over the 120Mbps bitrate of its predecessor. It can also be used to shoot up to 5.4K resolution video at up to 30fps, as well as 4K/60p video. Stills can be captured in HDR, JPEG and RAW formats. This comes in the form of a 20-megapixel 1-inch CMOS sensor, with a 22mm equivalent f2.8 lens. The drone’s camera system has also received a significant upgrade. Owners of the Mavic Air 2 who are considering an upgrade will be pleased to learn that the Air 2S accepts the same batteries. In windy conditions, the Mavic Air 2S can still produce stable video, however this will result in slightly reduced flight times. Although there are few circumstances where you might operate the drone at such distances, the increased range bolsters the quality and stability of the video feed within typical operating ranges (line of sight). Its batteries will now give you roughly 30 minutes of flight time and DJI Ocusync 3.0 increases its transmission range from 6km to 8km. The range and flight time of the Mavic Air 2S gives pilots greater freedom to explore. It also features an updated version of DJI ActiveTrack 4.0, which allows you to select and track a subject, whether they’re driving, running, walking or even swimming. This new mode is designed to help even the most novice of drone pilots to capture and automatically create cinematic 1080p content to share on social media. Overall, I chose the HS720E as the overall best drone under $300 because it has the highest resolution camera and video quality, the widest field of view and the best wind resistance by far.DJI drones are famed for their automated flying modes and the Mavic Air 2S raises the bar further with the addition of new feature MasterShots. The HS720E does have electronic image stabilisation though. However, if your a beginner you may want to think about the benefit of having the 3 axis gimbal in the DJI Mini SE as this will give better image stabilisation. If you want the widest field of view and UHD photo and video quality then the Holy Stone HS720E is definitely the best drone available under $300. ![]() Some drone enthusiasts prefer not to have to register there drone with FAA so these would also be a good choice as both of these mini drones are under the weight limit. If max air time is most important, both the Mini SE and Roku Mini have 30 minutes max flight time per battery giving about an hour in the air. The one that’s best for you will depend on what you use your drone for. These are 3 solid performers when it comes to quality for money. ![]()
